Although flexible working arrangements such as working from home or job sharing offer many advantages, they also present organisations with new challenges. In the area of organisational security in particular, it is important to ensure that alarm and evacuation structures continue to function despite physical absences.
The Strassenverkehrsamt of Canton Zurich has recognised this challenge and decided to further develop the existing organisational structure. We at DELTAgroup are delighted to have been consulted on the design and implementation, which demonstrates the trust placed in our expertise.
Problem identification
Our security experts analysed the existing organisation. The aim was to identify weaknesses and define the requirements for a secure, future-proof structure.
Development of solution variants
Based on the analysis, various solution approaches were developed and evaluated together with the Strassenverkehrsamt of Canton Zurich in terms of feasibility and efficiency. The preferred option formed the basis for the subsequent design and selection of suitable software solutions.
Technical support during implementation
We provided technical support for the implementation of the new alarm solution. This ensured that the technical implementation remained consistent with the conceptual framework.
Training for key personnel
Employees who play a key role in the event of an incident received targeted training at several locations. As well as clear action guidelines, the training focused on the new processes and the use of the alarm solution.
Proof of concept
Two evacuation drills, conducted at different locations, served as a practical test of the new organisational structure. We conducted and evaluated the drills, and supplemented these with surveys of employees and key personnel. All assessments and feedback were submitted to the Strassenverkehrsamt of Canton Zurich in the form of a drill report.
Conclusion
The modernised safety organisation of the Strassenverkehrsamt of Canton Zurich demonstrates how new working models and reliable safety structures can be successfully combined. Through foresight and dedication, the Strassenverkehrsamt of Canton Zurich has taken the initiative to future-proof its organisation.
