Requirements

Completed vocational education and training (VET) or Swiss Maturity Diploma or equivalent diploma. Swiss citizen or settled foreign national (C permit). Minimum age 25 years, with clean background (no criminal record or entries on the debt register). Successfully completed basic in-house training at DELTAgroup and additional accreditation from our clients.

Training duration

The paid basic training lasts two days and can be partly completed online. The basics include practical skills such as fire safety, first aid, radio operation, and security screening of people and their belongings, completed by theoretical content such as law and psychology. The basic training is supplemented by modules of between one and six days in the areas of unarmed self-defence, multipurpose baton use, and crowd and riot control – depending on which personnel division the employee belongs to.

Typical working day

These employees work nights from Monday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Part-time positions working on specific days are also possible, of course. Employees in this line of work are based at our clients’ headquarters, where they monitor sensitive areas. They also sit on guard outside closed rooms or areas. If there is an incident, the employees provide an alert according to clear client requirements and instigate important interventions. Whether staff have direct contact with clients during these assignments depends on which personnel division they belong to and the associated training. An appropriate uniform is provided by the employer for these assignments.

Upsides

In this line of work, our staff come into contact with many different groups of people and gain an insight into a unique working environment. Working at night makes it easier to deal with private matters during the day and means less traffic on the commute.

Downsides

In this line of work, employees can come into contact with difficult people, depending on the assignment. Tricky situations are generally resolved by using negotiating skills and the necessary tact. Working at night can make it difficult to have a social life.
